You will be able to identify this lady better when we tell you, we are referring to Radio Mirchi Suchitra. She can no more be called that since she has quit working as an RJ.

How did Suchitra get the role in Simbu’s film?

“I have many friends in the film field, but Simbu is my best friend. People scared me about being friendly with him, but he is really a gem of a person.”

So, Simbu has given this opportunity to a dear friend. May he and his good heart prosper!

Mirchi Suchi 24th June 2007

Posted by admin On March - 9 - 2009

Its 7 AM. You don?t have any reason to wake up. But still you woke up. The concept of bed coffee is redefined as you searched where your radio is without even noticing the coffee cup. Turned it on. Its time for Hello Chennai. Here comes the sweet voice of RJ Suchitra which has all the makings of starting your day with a bang! The RJ popularly known as Suchi, know how to pep-up you with her bouncy and live wire presentment. Now that?s what I call the tone that gets you started out!

In case you are wondering what I was talking about, I was talking about Radio Mirchi, Chennai?s hottest radio station. The one that caused radio to reincarnate in the minds of Chennaites. All hells broke loose one day when the Govt. allowed private players to run FM stations a few years back. It has lead to the mushrooming of many FM stations including Radio City(Murdoch?s controversial investment),RED FM and Radio Mirchi(of the Times Group) and which in turn had more number of people turning on to their radio sets. That has given a quantum leap for radio in its Product Life Cycle (PLC) curve. That?s how it all started.

Mirchi has also the best RJ?s in town. The versatile RJ Suchitra Ramadorai, the award winning author of The Runaway Peppercorn and a talented singer is undoubtedly the best. As a regular listener of Radio Mirchi, I have become an aficionado of her voice and her jokes albeit being a non-Tamil. Humor is mixed up in all the promos. They are sometimes hilarious, sometimes outrageous and invariably, sometimes pathetic. But what is astonishing is that they made it all look like something that?s acceptable to an average and high class Tamilian alike.

After a break from Radion Mirchi for a while now Suchitra, one of the best-known voices on radio, will be hosting the Breakfast Show on Radio One from June 6, 2007. She will entertain and engage listeners on Radio One from 7 am to 11 am, Monday thru Saturday. Suchi had captured the imagination of the people of Chennai in a very short time and has sung in movies like Laysa Laysa, Kaakha Kaakha, Punnagai Poove, etc. She sang her first solo for Jay Jay, the much-hyped Reema Sen number on the crowded Vishakapatnam railway station platform! Congratulations, Suchi!

Radio One FM 94.3 has tied up with BBC for providing some of its content. Launched in January 2007, it has, during the course of five months, endeared itself to listeners and continues to grow in strength. The secret behind this success is the innovative programming and its continuous celebration of Chennai. Yet another innovation for the benefit of listeners is the tie-up with BBC for providing content on its Breakfast Show. From June 6, 2007, Radio One has made subtle changes to its programming mix to ensure that Radio One demonstrates its core promise consistently and continuously every 20 minutes.

EL V Navaneeth, station head, Radio One, Chennai, said, “We are proud and delighted to carry original content in Tamil from BBC on our station. BBC is a household name in Chennai and this association will certainly add value to listeners and help Radio One build further on the strong position it has built for itself.”

Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam“I have three visions for India. In 3000 years of our history, people from all over the world have come and invaded us, captured our lands, conquered our minds. From Alexander onwards, The Greeks, the Turks, the Moguls, the Portuguese, the British, the French, the Dutch, all of them came and looted us, took over what was ours. Yet we have not done this to any other nation. We have not conquered anyone. We have not grabbed their land, their culture, their history and Tried to enforce our way of life on them. Why? Because we respect the freedom of others.

That is why my first vision is that of FREEDOM. I believe that India got its first vision of this in 1857, when we started the war of Independence. It is this freedom that we must protect and nurture and build on. If we are not free, no one will respect us.

My second vision for India’s DEVELOPMENT, For fifty years we have been A developing nation. It is time we see ourselves as a developed nation. We are among top 5 nations of the world in terms of GDP. We have 10 percent growth rate in most areas. Our poverty levels are falling. Our achievements are being globally recognized today. Yet we lack the self-confidence to see ourselves as a developed nation, self-reliant and self-assured. Isn’t this incorrect?

I have a THIRD vision. India must stand up to the world. Because I believe that, unless India stands up to the world, no one will respect us. Only strength respects strength. We must be strong not only as a military power but also as an economic power. Both must go hand-in-hand. My good fortune was to have worked with three great minds. Dr. Vikram Sarabhai of the Dept. of space, Professor Satish Dhawan, who succeeded him and Dr.Brahm Prakash, father of nuclear material. I was lucky to have worked with all three of them closely and consider this the great opportunity of my life. Read the rest of this entry »

Windows 7 Release Date

Posted by admin On March - 9 - 2009

Windows 7The word on the blogosphere is that Windows 7 should be released to manufacturing in October 2009 with general availability by November. Blogger Long Zheng has come to this release-date conclusion and says that he’s been given the nod by an unnamed source at Microsoft who validated his guess. Zheng sites two sources for his guess. Today the WinHEC 2008 site boldly says that Windows 7 will be released before the next annual WinHEC. (“WinHEC is the only chance for you to engage with the team at this level – there is not another WinHEC planned before Windows 7 is released,” it says). Also ASUS CEO Jerry Shen said in an interview with Laptop magazine that Eee PCs should be running Windows 7 by the second half of next year.

Actually, there is nothing in these statements that indicates that Windows 7 will be released to manufacturing as late in the year as October. From these statements alone it could be out earlier, like late summer. In any case, Microsoft will certainly be more forthcoming with its release plans soon. In fact, by the time we usher in 2009, we could be singing some new words to the traditional New Year’s tune Auld Lang Syne that goes something like this.

Vijay Mallya buys Gandhi items for $1.8 million

Posted by admin On March - 6 - 2009

Mallya saves Bapu’s legacy, buys belongings for Rs 9 cr.

Interesting Tag to consider  - “miracle” liquor baron Vijay Mallya

Mahatma Gandhi’s memorabilia went under the hammer at the Antiquorum Auctioneers early on Friday morning (India time) in New York after hours of high drama.

Lot 364, featuring effects of Mahatma Gandhi, had a reserve price between $20,000 and $30,000.vijay-mallya

After frenzied bidding, the lot drew a bid of $ 1.8 million, for a total cost of $2.1 million including the buyer’s premium.

Tushar Gandhi’s sigh of relief

Tushar Gandhi was really worried before the bidding but now he says getting Bapu’s items back is miracle.

Mallya has a reputation

The last time a piece of Indian heritage went under the hammer, Mallya paid up Rs 4 crore (Rs 4 million) for the Sword of Tipu Sultan and got it back to India.

The controversy over Tipu Sultan’s legendary sword involving industrialist Vijay Mallya brings into sharp focus the issue of import and export of antiques. Check more details here on “Rules on import/export of antiques & about the show-cause notice to Mallya by the Customs department”.

Controversies & Drama Behind

The auction went off despite the consignor of the lot, James Otis, saying he had decided not to sell the items in the light of the controversy.

Just a day after making specific demands of the government of India in return for withdrawing the items, Otis said he wanted the auction house to take the lot off the block.

“Amidst the controversy, I decided not to sell the items. I have personally requested the Antiquorum to remove it from auction list,” Otis said.

But the auction went ahead anyway.

But in the end, it appears that the Indian Government had good reason to be satisfied with the final result of the day.
